Fairway Group’s Trust business has added Advocate Caroline Dutot to its Board as part of an innovative scheme organised by a local charity.

Launched in 2014, Board Apprentice was founded in Jersey to add equality, diversity, integrity and altruism in company boards.

Fairway Group, which already has female board representation of 40% and a 66% female workforce, saw the programme as the perfect way to provide the next generation of potential directors with first-hand experience.

Caroline, who recently joined her first Fairway board meeting said: “It is a pleasure to have been given the opportunity to join the Fairway Group’s Trust Board. Diversification of our workforce and boards is an important governance issue facing local businesses. Fairway are already leaders in terms of their own diversity agenda. By supporting the Board Apprentice scheme, Fairway Group are further supporting our Island’s ability to offer wider, more diverse, boards for Jersey entities.”

Louise Bracken-Smith, CEO and founder of Fairway Group said: “I think this is a wonderful scheme, which is developing a diverse pool of directors in Jersey which ultimately enables clients to have more options when considering Jersey as a jurisdiction of choice.”

Board Apprentice founder, Charlotte Valeur, who was recently appointed Chair of the Institute of Directors added: “I am delighted that Fairway Group has agreed to be a host board and take their first Board Apprentice on board. The more we have of companies and boards taking an active part in upskilling our talent, the better for everybody in Jersey.”
