Volunteers gather for Packing Night ahead of Saffery Rotary Walk 2026

With just weeks to go until the Saffery Rotary Walk 2026, volunteers came together on Wednesday 22 April for this year’s Packing Night.

Held once again at St James, the evening saw dedicated teams from Saffery Trust and the island’s two Rotary Clubs working side by side to assemble Welcome Pack envelopes for registered walkers. More than 450 packs were carefully prepared, each containing key information and the event’s signature orange t-shirts, ready to be dispatched to participants across Guernsey and beyond.

Walkers will be arriving from across the world this year, with packs heading to participants in countries including as far distant as South Africa and a significant
number making their way to UK-based entrants – a reminder of just how far the reach of this island event has grown.

Guernsey Post will now begin delivering the packs, with further mailings scheduled in the coming weeks for those who register ahead of the June date. There is still time to sign up and take part.

Lisa Vizia, Director at Saffery Trust, said: “Every year, we field a team from Saffery Trust to work alongside the Rotary volunteers in preparing these packs, and
every year it reminds us of what makes this event so special. It is not just about the walk itself – it is about the community that comes together at every stage of the journey to make it happen.”

Lisa continued: “This year holds particular significance for us as we mark our 10th anniversary as title sponsor, and evenings like this one capture exactly the spirit we have always wanted to be part of. It is a privilege to support the Walk not just financially, but by rolling up our sleeves alongside the Rotarians and giving our time.”

Walk Chairman, Simon Milsted, added: “Packing Night is a key milestone in the Walk’s preparations, and it is always inspiring to see Saffery Trust, Guernsey Post
and the Rotarians working together so seamlessly. The dedication of all involved is a testament to the incredible community spirit that defines the Saffery Rotary Walk.”

Simon added: “A huge thank you to the team at Guernsey Post, whose job it now is to get the Welcome Packs safely into the hands of our walkers, and to St James for once again generously providing the venue for this important evening’s work. We cannot wait for 6 June.”
