Community fundraising powers IVF travel grants for Islanders

Since 2023, Jersey’s fertility charity, Tiny Seeds, has awarded almost 150 IVF travel grants to islanders.

These grants support islanders who fall outside the criteria for Government funding and must cover the full cost of treatment and travel themselves.

Behind every grant is a person or couple navigating one of the most emotionally challenging experiences of their lives. With IVF costs mounting – and treatment requiring travel off-island – Tiny Seeds’ £400 grants help ease financial pressure at a critical time.

However, demand remains high and funds are running low. The charity is now encouraging businesses and individuals to take on a £400 fundraising challenge to help support islanders accessing IVF treatment.

A number of local organisations have already embraced the challenge in creative and impactful ways.

Dough raised £400 by donating £1 from every cinnamon bun sold over three days, funding one full travel grant. The Mum Method is hosting weekly community runs, while a collective of family and wellness businesses – Positive Birth Jersey, Sophie Darwin Photography, Jo Cabot Baby Massage, Flow Mover, Mumentum Physio, The Little Change Company and Island Wellness Centre – have launched a collaborative fundraiser.

May Bourne from Positive Birth Jersey said: “Fertility journeys are tough enough without added financial barriers. Tiny Seeds is a fantastic charity, we’ve been delighted to support them with our fundraiser and hope to see the total grow even further!”

Elsewhere, Park Recruitment will host a charity quiz night on Friday 27th March, The Party Crew has supported through their Bounce Fest raising £900 for the fund, and Flour is donating £1 from every bowl of soup sold throughout March.
