The Ladies’ College hosted its second TEDx event on Thursday 5th March, providing a platform for students to share their ideas and perspectives with the wider community.
Sponsored by PwC, the independently organised event saw students from The Ladies’ College and The Sixth Form Centre take to the stage to address a variety of thought-provoking topics that resonate both locally and globally.
The event featured talks on issues ranging from the power of overlooked individuals in history to the complexities of artificial intelligence and its impact on society.
Nick Dyson, Deputy Principal (Innovation and Student Development) at The Ladies’ College, said: “We are thrilled to have hosted another inspiring TEDx event, which showcased the incredible talent and intellect of our students. Giving young people a platform to speak about topics that genuinely matter to them is so important.
“It not only helps them develop their voice and confidence but also encourages them to think critically about the world around them and the role they want to play in shaping it.
“This year marked the first TEDx collaboration between The Ladies’ College and The Sixth Form Centre – something we are all very proud of. Watching talks beforehand, and receiving support from the PwC-supported Boost programme, enabled all students to feel prepared for this prestigious event. A big thank you to PwC for their continued support as our sponsor – it’s thanks to their backing that we are able to give these young women a platform to share their ideas.”
Debbie Bideau, Team Leader for English, Music and Drama at the Sixth Form Centre, added: “The Sixth Form Centre was very pleased to be asked to be involved with The Ladies’ College TEDx event this year.
“It gave the students a real opportunity to work on their presentation skills and we found the support invaluable that Nick Dyson from The Ladies’ College gave, as well as the feedback on the talks that Boost and PwC provided. It has been a privilege to work on this collaboration and we look forward to working together again on future events.”
Nick Vermeulen, PwC Channel Islands Senior Partner, said: “We are proud to support The Ladies’ College TEDx Youth event, which embodies our commitment to fostering an inclusive society where every young person has the opportunity to be heard. Events like this empower the next generation to share bold, innovative ideas that push boundaries and inspire meaningful change, both locally and globally. At PwC, we believe in investing in our community and championing initiatives that nurture confidence, creativity, and critical thinking among young leaders. Supporting students as they explore diverse perspectives is not only an investment in their futures but also in the resilient, thriving community we all share.”
