The Citywealth International Financial Centre Awards took place 28th January at the 5 star The Biltmore Hotel Mayfair in London, bringing together over 100 of the world’s top wealth advisors and private client experts.
Hosted by TV presenter Rebecca Jones – a founder member of BBC News 24 and BBC’s arts correspondent for more than two decades – the event was given a hint of Scottish flavour by a kilted bagpiper in celebration of Burns Night.
Now in their fifteenth year, these awards were established to highlight the excellence of the advisors and managers in the private wealth sector within the major International Financial Centres.
Awards in 39 categories were announced with additional Editor’s Choice, Career Achievement, Outstanding Individual of the Year and Best Sustainability Jurisdiction prizes.
The winners were judged by an international panel of highly respected practitioners from all sectors and with experience of working with advisors in all the jurisdictions covered.
Jersey scooped the gold award for the best International Financial Centre of the Year for the thirteenth year, while Guernsey came second with a silver award. Guernsey also received the Best Sustainability Jurisdiction award.
Jersey further stood out with Lloyd Maxwell, senior director at RBC Wealth Management, scooping the top Editor’s Choice Award.
In addition, ten outstanding wealth professionals from the Crown Dependencies received awards in recognition of their excellence.
The achievements of twelve companies based in or with branches in the Crown Dependencies were also recognised, with JTC Group getting awards in both the Trust Company of the Year Jersey and also Isle of Man categories.
Over £3,000 were raised during the evening for Maggie’s charity, whose president is Her Majesty The Queen Camilla, and which provides care and support for cancer sufferers at their nationwide centres.
The Citywealth IFC Awards were created by multi award winning Karen Jones, CEO of Citywealth, who founded the company in 2005, over twenty years ago.
Karen said: “ Congratulations to all our winners and shortlisted firms. The International Financial Centre Awards celebrate the very highest standards of excellence, innovation and professionalism across the global private wealth sector. It is inspiring to see such depth of expertise across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man – these awards recognise those advisors and centres that consistently deliver outstanding service to private clients worldwide”
