The Office of the Data Protection Authority has published its new Strategic Plan.
It sets out the organisation’s action plan to deliver innovative, agile and effective data protection regulation for the Bailiwick of Guernsey over the next three years.
Rapid technological advances in recent years, from genetic profiling to generative AI, have reshaped the data protection landscape requiring an innovative, bold and agile approach to protecting and respecting people’s data rights.
Supported by the Office of the Data Protection Authority’s regulatory pillars of Balance, Trust and Partnership, the Strategic Plan (2026-9) sets out a progressive pathway to creating a safe and prosperous community where people can trust that their personal information will be used responsibly.
Through the strategic plan, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) is reinforcing its commitment to building on its achievements, while setting out three core strategic objectives for the next three years:
- Educate society, equip individuals and influence culture
- A modern safe, digital society and economy
- Assertive Agile Enforcement
Brent Homan (pictured), the Bailiwick’s Data Protection Commissioner, commented: “These strategic objectives will further enhance the protection of citizens’ data in the Bailiwick while supporting a trusted world class innovative economy where people’s data rights are respected.”
