Aurigny’s fleet grows with additional ATR aircraft

Aurigny has confirmed the addition of a new leased ATR 72-600 aircraft to its fleet.

The additional aircraft joins five existing ATRs and aligns with the airline’s long-term fleet strategy, which prioritises fleet commonality, modernisation and fuel efficiency. These factors support operational efficiency and service reliability across the network.

Aurigny’s operations and procurement teams have worked to integrate the aircraft into the fleet while maintaining existing schedules. Further network changes associated with the additional capacity are expected to be announced in the coming days.

As part of the updated operating plan, Aurigny has fully reinstated three daily flights on the Guernsey–Southampton route for summer 2026, restoring capacity following the cessation of Blue Islands’ services. Customers affected by the change have been notified directly with revised flight details, and all services on the route are now operated by Aurigny.

To support the expanded fleet, the airline has strengthened its crew numbers, recruiting Captains and First Officers from Blue Islands, while additional pilots transition from the soon-to-be-retired Dornier 228NG to the ATR fleet.

Nico Bezuidenhout (pictured), Chief Executive Officer, said: “Serving the people of Guernsey on the lifeline route to Southampton is a responsibility we take extremely seriously and with a clear focus.

“The additional ATR 72-600 provides the capacity required to support that responsibility and to continue developing the airline’s operations in line with demand.”
