The International Stock Exchange, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Miami International Holdings, congratulates Guernsey sailor Andrew Bridgman at the conclusion of his latest, and final, international campaign.

TISE sponsored Mr. Bridgman for the past three years while he competed around the globe in the Foiling Waszp classification.

Despite suffering a hand injury during his first week of training earlier this year, Mr. Bridgman finished 37th out of 210 in the Foiling Waszp World Championships and in fifth-place at the British National Championships. This achievement marks the conclusion of Mr. Bridgman’s pursuit of glory on the international stage as he sets his sights on returning to a full-time actuarial role. He plans to continue sailing locally and enjoy racing on home waters.

“It has been a privilege to compete around the world against the very best sailors in the Foiling Waszp category,” said Mr Bridgman. “My injury could have put me out for the season but I worked hard on the rehabilitation and made it back in six weeks. Unfortunately, the lack of time on the water took its toll and I made too many mistakes, although 37th out of 210 in the worlds and fifth at the UK nationals is not too bad. It was a tough season but considering the severity of my injury, I was glad just to be able to compete.”

In 2023, Mr. Bridgman won gold in the sailing competition at the Island Games in Guernsey and later in the year placed 12th out of 90 at the Foiling Waszp World Championships. The following year, he finished third in the UK national championship and 22nd out of 140 in the world championships.

Cees Vermaas, Chief Executive Officer of TISE, said: “It has been a pleasure to support Andrew over the last three years. We got to know Andrew when he won the TISE-sponsored sailing competition at the Island Games, and knew we wanted to support his international ambitions. All of us at TISE have enjoyed following Andrew’s progress and learning more about the sport, and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
