de Gruchy supports Freeda for White Ribbon Day

Department store de Gruchy is supporting Freeda and the vital work they do to end domestic abuse in the island by marking White Ribbon Day on 25th November.

Colleagues will wear white ribbons and the King Street store’s windows will feature special vinyls to highlight the campaign’s important message.

White Ribbon Day is part of an international movement to end violence against women and girls. It encourages men and boys to make the White Ribbon Promise – never to use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women. The campaign also calls on everyone to play their part in building a world of equality and respect.

Freeda representatives will be in store on Saturday 22nd November to speak with customers, share information and raise awareness of the support available locally.

This event follows a series of successful fundraising and awareness initiatives in partnership with Freeda. During Self Care Awareness Month in September, de Gruchy invited customers to donate new beauty and wellbeing products to women living in Freeda’s safe house and those supported in the community. Islanders responded with remarkable generosity, helping to make a meaningful difference for women rebuilding their lives.

Simon Youden, Store Director at de Gruchy, said: “We’re proud to continue supporting Freeda and to stand behind such an important cause. Our colleagues and customers have shown incredible generosity throughout the year, and White Ribbon Day gives us another opportunity to help raise awareness of an issue that affects so many. Community support is at the heart of what we do, and we’re very grateful to everyone who’s joined us in making a difference.”

Kate Wright, CEO of Freeda said: “Allyship is at the heart of White Ribbon Day, and we’re grateful to de Gruchy for using their voice to stand alongside survivors. When organisations step up and speak up as allies, it helps build a culture where domestic abuse is never excused and where women and children can feel safer and supported.”
