Orbitus has supported the establishment and approval of Darach Capital Investments LP, a new Guernsey fund investing in cask whisky at the highest end of the market.
The fund has been formed by a group of industry figures with extensive experience in the premium and ultra-premium whisky sector, professionals whose careers span decades at the forefront of distilling, blending and trading fine and rare whiskies in Scotland and internationally.
“We’re delighted to have received approval from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission for Darach’s innovative whisky fund, expertly guided by the team at our partners, Orbitus. This marks an important step in opening a regulated, institutional-grade route into the Scotch whisky cask market. Our focus is on combining deep sector expertise with robust governance to deliver secure and meaningful long-term value for our investors,” said Andrew Ranger, one of Darach’s promoters.
Andrew continued: “The GFSC’s approval of Darach Capital Investments LP represents a significant milestone for our team and our investors. By bringing professional fund management standards to a traditionally private market, we aim to give investors a secure and transparent way to participate in the long-term value creation of rare Scotch whisky casks.”
The fund was established under Guernsey’s newly reformed Qualifying Private Investor Fund (QPIF) regime, a quick-to-market, proportionate framework designed to meet the needs of private capital investors and emerging managers.
Orbitus provided establishment services and guided the promoters through multiple stages from the statutory incorporations right through to the regulatory process, working in close collaboration with Bedell Cristin as lead counsel. As Designated Administrator and provider of director services, Orbitus will ensure the smooth ongoing administration of the structure, particularly surrounding its upcoming first close – a landmark event for the alternative asset space.
“This project brought together exceptional expertise from leaders in the world of fine whisky, combined with our knowledge and detailed understanding of fund administration within Guernsey’s proactive regulatory framework,” said Samuel Stoddart (pictured), Fund & Corporate Manager at Orbitus.
