The Institute of Directors Jersey 2025 Future Leaders scheme, sponsored by KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, culminated in a celebratory awards ceremony at the Royal Yacht Hotel.
The event saw Deputy Inna Gardiner, former Minister for Children and Education and Chair of the IoD Alex Ruddy, presenting students with their certificates and awards, alongside representatives from KPMG in the Crown Dependencies and Andium Homes.
Open to all Year 12 students, the scheme offers a unique opportunity to spend a week shadowing a Director or Senior Manager, providing invaluable career insight. The Future Leaders scheme, which has been running for 45 years, had a record number of participating companies this year, including Jersey Employment Trust, Terne Events, Jersey Heritage, Prosperity 24/7, Digital Jersey, Alter Domus, BNP, Fairway Trust, Jersey Cheshire Homes, Jersey Care Commission, Jersey Water, Viberts, Jersey Sport, KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, Ogier, Collas Crill, Walkers, Langham Hall, Ocorian, Santander, 4insight, Whitmill Trust, Ports of Jersey, JEC, RBSI, Aztec, Enhance HR, Geomarine, Jersey Dairy, Mourant as well as various Government Departments such as the Economy Department and Health and Community Services.
Over forty students were celebrated at the event, receiving certificates of participation, and a further six students were awarded Commended certificates. The ceremony also recognised two Year 6 student winners from the 2025 Jersey Oracy Network initiative Speak Up Speak Out – Jayden Rachuonyo and Amelia Reczynska – who each delivered inspiring presentations on ‘What equality means to me’.
The three Highly Commended Winners were:
- 1st: Ebbie Bayman – placement with Jersey Employment Trust (Jersey College for Girls)
- 2nd: Olivia Maddox – placement with Terne Events (Jersey College for Girls)
- 3rd: Zahara Noho – placement at Andium Homes (Beaulieu Convent School Jersey)
Andium Homes Sponsored Prizes were also awarded as follows:
- Best Application: Sophie Douglas (Jersey College for Girls)
- Best Interview: Ruby Butler (Jersey College for Girls)
- Best Report: Jonathan Mews (Oundale School, UK)
