It’s often the case that many Islanders will only become aware of the wide range of care services available in Jersey when they, or a loved one, are facing some of the most challenging moments in life.
Yet, often out of sight, an incredible network of care services supports some of the Island’s most vulnerable members of the community, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, compassion, and care.
This often unseen side of the Island’s care services, and the dedicated teams that provide them, is just one of the topics discussed in the first episode of the Jersey Care Commission’s new podcast series, hosted by Chief Inspector Becky Sherrington (pictured).
The series aims to shine a light on the outstanding care being delivered across Jersey, raise awareness among both care providers and care users of the different types of support available, and explore how regulation plays a collaborative role in continually raising standards.
In the opening episode, Becky speaks with Tim Ringsdore and Sarah Tumelty from Sanctuary Trust and Jason Wyse from Silkworth Group. Together, they discuss the vital services their teams provide – often supporting Islanders through highly complex situations requiring the collaborative effort of multiple care providers – and the vital importance of non-judgemental, compassionate, well-led teams in making a real difference.
The episode also looks at how modern regulation strengthens services, supports care teams, and helps ensure Islanders receive safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.
Becky Sherrington commented: “There is so much brilliant, compassionate care being delivered every day in Jersey but it’s not always visible to the wider community and this podcast series is about shining a light on those services, celebrating the incredible teams behind them, and raising awareness amongst Islanders of the care and support that’s available to them.”
