Jersey’s IoD will hold a significant public debate on Brexit as they invite acclaimed Brexit expert, Allie Renison, to join Jersey’s External Relations Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, to present at the first IoD Leaders Lunch of 2019.

Allie Renison, IoD’s Head of Europe and Trade Policy, will provide an update on Brexit and give vital insight into her first-hand experience of the latest developments at the lunch, titled ‘Beyond Brexit’.

Known as ‘Miss Brexit’ by many in the UK media, Miss Renison is closely engaged with all parts of government in mapping out Brexit priorities on behalf of IoD members. She is uniquely placed to shed light on negotiations, as well as describe what the IoD is doing to influence and plan for the UK’s exit from the EU.

Miss Renison leads on devising recommendations and representing the voice of IoD members on EU policy matters to both Westminster and Whitehall. She provides the link between business and government on increasing international trade and has authored a number of reports on trends in trade and trade policy. She routinely provides advocacy for the IoD on a range of regulatory issues in Brussels. She has previously advised a number of parliamentarians in both Houses on EU legislative issues, with particular focus on trade and employment policy areas.

At the IoD Jersey lunch, Senator Gorst will balance Allie Renison’s UK perspective with critical debate on what Brexit means for Jersey and how prepared the island is for potential outcomes. Senator Gorst and Allie Renison will then open the floor to questions from the audience.

Chris Clark, IoD Jersey Chairman, said: “With the calibre of our speakers, and an audience of business leaders, politicians and business owners, I expect this event to be highly significant and help shape the Brexit debate. Brexit will undoubtedly have an impact on how we do business in Jersey.

“It is a hugely complex and evolving issue and I’m delighted to welcome Allie to the island to shed light on negotiations and the IoD’s plans to navigate the changes. It’s also vital that we have the Jersey perspective from Senator Ian Gorst and look at some real-life examples of what this could mean for the island in terms of both challenges and opportunities.”

The lunch will take place on Tuesday 29 January at Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa.
