Charities focused on improving education and welfare in Africa, on addressing food insecurity and nutrition in Jersey, and on delivering outstanding palliative care were amongst the winners of the 2025 Jersey Charity Awards.

The winners were announced at an afternoon tea ceremony on Sunday.

Organised by the Association of Jersey Charities (AJC), the Awards recognise outstanding achievement, professionalism and excellence amongst organisations and individuals in the sector.

The ceremony was held in the gardens of Government House and attended by almost 200 representatives from a broad range of charitable organisations.

More than 30 nominations were made for the Awards, which were judged rigorously by a panel which included Paul Routier MBE, Charles Humpleby, Liz Le Poidevin and Jane Galloway. The winners of each of the ‘Small’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Large’ charity categories received a prize of £5,000, with the runner up and third place charity receiving £1,000 and £500 respectively.

The winners were:

Outstanding Achievement for a Small Charity

  • Winner: Sundeep Watts Memorial Fund
  • 2nd:  Philip’s Footprints
  • 3rd: Jersey Sea Cadet Corps

Outstanding Achievement for a Medium Charity

  • Winner: Caring Cooks of Jersey
  • 2nd: Citizen’s Advice Jersey
  • 3rd: Autism Jersey

Outstanding Achievement for a Large Charity

  • Winner: Jersey Hospice Care
  • 2nd: Les Amis
  • 3rd: Family Nursing & Home Care

In addition, an ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ was presented to Suzy Webb, in recognition of her considerable impact in her capacity as a volunteer at Caring Cooks of Jersey. An additional ‘Special Recognition’ award was also presented to AJC Administrator Lyn Wilton for her contribution to the AJC’s work over so many years, ahead of her retirement.

Compered by Gwyn Garfield-Bennett, the event was introduced by The Lieutenant Governor, Vice Admiral Sir Jerry Kyd, KBE, while entertainment was provided by The Ukulele Club and Ellie-Mai.

Held every two years, the Awards are supported by the Ana Leaf Foundation, and by Jersey Finance thanks to fundraising undertaken by its members as part of the finance industry’s 60th anniversary celebrations in 2021.

Marcus Liddiard, CEO of the Association of Jersey Charities, said: “The last couple of years have continued to provide challenges for local charities, as they have had to face up to a cost of living crisis, difficult fundraising conditions and increasing demand for their services. But what we have seen through our Awards this year is that Jersey charities have stepped up to that challenge to introduce new ideas and solutions, through a blend of creativity and determination. All our winners this year are very worthy indeed – but most impressive is the collective impact of our sector and the huge value it so clearly adds in the local community.”
