The Big Skipton Sleep Out returns for 2026

Skipton International and Caritas Guernsey are once again calling on islanders to swap their beds for sleeping bags and spend a night under the stars as The Big Skipton Sleep Out returns for its second year on Friday 23 January 2026, at the King George V (KGV) Playing Fields.

After an extraordinary first year, when more than 300 people slept outside for one night and raised more than £40,000 for Caritas’ modular housing initiative, this year’s event will build on that momentum. It aims to highlight the scale of housing insecurity in Guernsey and raise vital funds for those without a permanent place to call home.

Graham Merfield, Chair of Caritas Guernsey, said: “No one wants to see another year where islanders are still without a place to call home, but the reality is, the need remains. That’s why we’re incredibly grateful to Skipton International for standing alongside us again to bring back The Big Skipton Sleep Out.

“It’s a powerful symbol of our wonderful community, and the funds raised are already helping us take real steps towards creating safe, secure modular homes for people experiencing homelessness.”

To launch the 2026 event, Skipton and Caritas will host a community stand at Seafront Sunday on 14 September, where islanders can speak to the Caritas team, learn more about the event, and pick up an early-bird sponsorship form before registrations open to the wider public.

The overnight challenge takes place on Friday 23 January 2026 at the King George V (KGV) Playing Fields from 7pm to 6:30am, with participants sleeping outside with only basic shelter in a shared act of empathy and awareness.

Charlotte Dunsterville  (pictured), Chief Commercial Officer at Skipton International, added: “The response to last year’s event was incredible. People of all backgrounds came together to take on something difficult, because they believe everyone deserves a safe home. This isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a statement that homelessness in Guernsey can’t be ignored. We’re proud to partner with Caritas again and hope even more islanders join us this year.”
