Jersey Cyber Security Centre has formed the CISO Forum, bringing together on-Island cyber security leaders and senior professionals to work together on cyber security challenges.
The CISO Forum enables members to exchange knowledge, discuss cyber security challenges, develop and collaborate on best practice, and review current intelligence on cyber security incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities. It is also designed to allow members to provide feedback on JCSC’s services, and provide input into government policy on cyber security. Confidential meetings will take place two to four times a year.
Matt Palmer, Director of Jersey Cyber Security Centre (JCSC), said: “Cyber security is critical to the services we all depend on, as well as to our economy. Increasing organised cyber crime, as well as the actions of unfriendly nations, are challenges we have to meet together as a community. This initiative means that we benefit from being able to draw on the knowledge and expertise we already have on-Island.
“The CISO Forum is designed to bring together senior cyber security experts working in industry and critical infrastructure in a confidential and collaborative space. It allows us to share intelligence and information amongst trusted colleagues, to help us better address some of the challenges facing the Island.
“The group complements our existing Cyber Suppliers Advisory Group, which gives local IT and cyber security service providers a similar opportunity to engage.”
Matt Derrien (pictured), Cyber Risk Officer at JCSC and Chair of the CISO Forum, said: “The group will work on developing best practice guidelines for businesses and organisations. Islanders will be able to rely on this best practice, secure in the knowledge that it has been developed with input from experts. As the proposed Cyber Security (Jersey) Law is progressed by Government, it will also provide a forum for expert engagement and challenge to ensure we provide the right support to industry.”
Mr Derrien added “The CISO Forum is a crucial step in ensuring our work is informed by the needs of industry, and a valuable resource for organisations to understand current cyber threats. Any Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) or senior professionals performing similar functions who would like to apply to join the group can email [email protected] to find out more.”
