Bowel Cancer Guernsey has funded the installation of outdoor gym equipment at Delancey Park to encourage the community to stay active.

The charity became involved after learning the Park required updated fitness equipment. The new kit, which was installed at the end of July, is located close to the playground and is designed to help people of all ages stay active while enjoying the outdoors.

This initiative is part of Bowel Cancer Guernsey’s aim to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, as well as to promote preventative steps that islanders can take. This includes regular exercise, healthy eating and participating in bowel cancer screenings.

Anne Brouard and Sara Gould

Anne Brouard, Chair of Bowel Cancer Guernsey, said: “Staying active is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce your risk of bowel cancer. We’re pleased to work with Delancey Park and encourage more islanders to take small steps every day that support their long-term health. We hope this new equipment will be well used and enjoyed by the whole community.”

Steve Melbourne (Inclusion Officer (Sports and Recreation)) said: “Thanks to Bowel Cancer Guernsey’s funding, the new outdoor gym equipment at Delancey Park will provide a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to stay active in a welcoming outdoor environment. This initiative not only enhances community fitness facilities but also promotes awareness of bowel cancer prevention through regular exercise – it is a positive step forward for both public health and recreation on the island.”
