Insurance Corporation has announced the launch of its 2025 Health & Social Care Bursary.
The bursary has, for over 30 years, recognised and supported the innovation and dedication of Health & Social Care (HSC) staff in the States of Guernsey.
This annual bursary invites HSC employees to submit creative and impactful ideas that aim to enhance health and social care provision across the Bailiwick. The most outstanding submissions will be awarded funding to help turn their ideas into reality, with a top prize of £3,000 and a runner-up award of £1,500.
For over three decades, the bursary has championed a wide variety of projects tackling important topics such as alcohol abuse, bereavement, elderly falls, eating disorders, mental health, diabetes, memory care, and midwifery.
In 2024, the £3,000 top prize was awarded to Ben Newell and Frances Heaume for their project, The ADHD Journey Hub. This initiative is designed to reduce stigma and empower children, young people, and their families with the knowledge and tools to better navigate ADHD in their daily lives.
Mark Marshall (pictured), Managing Director of Insurance Corporation, shared his thoughts on the enduring success of the scheme: “For 34 years, we’ve been astounded by the quality and diversity of the projects submitted. The knowledge and talent within HSC are incredible, and it’s inspiring to see such innovative ideas from frontline workers. The judging process is both exciting and challenging due to the incredible scope of the submissions.”
Michelle Steele, HR and PR Executive, who has been organising the Bursary for the past twelve years, added: “We are incredibly proud of our long-standing contribution to the local community. Each year we’re impressed by the creativity and compassion that really shines through – it’s amazing to see these projects come to life and make a real difference in the Bailiwick – and in some cases, even further afield.”
