Nearly two hundred Manx Care colleagues celebrated at the organisation’s third formal award ceremony at the Comis Hotel in Douglas.

The Care Awards is a privately sponsored event, which is delivered at zero cost to Manx Care and saw thirteen individuals and teams receive prizes for their work across a broad range of categories.

In total, there were over 350 nominations from and for all areas across Manx Care, including those from the public for ‘The Island’s Choice Award’, with 44 individuals and teams being shortlisted in recognition of their contribution to Manx Care.

His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer KCB DSO MBE, the Minister for Health and Social Care, Hon. Claire Christian MHK, the Worshipful the Mayor of Douglas, Councillor Mrs Natalie Byron-Teare and Consort Mr Andrew Teare were all in attendance.

Manx Care’s CEO, Teresa Cope, commented: “Each year this event gets more popular within Manx Care – nominations increased by a third from last year alone. It’s wonderful to see so many of our colleagues taking the time to nominate their colleagues across the award categories. It’s amazing to see everyone in their finery and enjoying an evening to themselves, when we are so used to seeing them putting others first every day.

“Once again, I would like to acknowledge that we could not hold this event without the generous funding from our wonderful sponsors, and I am extremely thankful that they’ve enabled us to do this for the third year in a row.

“Usually, each category only has a single runner-up but due to an extremely generous private donor, all runners-up in every category also received a gift voucher in recognition of their hard work, meaning that every team or individual who had been shortlisted still got to take something home.”
