HSBC will undertake a significant refurbishment of its St Brelade branch in Jersey this year.
The refurbishment represents another considerable investment to the island’s branch network, following the re-opening of the flagship King Street branch in St Helier earlier this year.
The branch at Red Houses will double in size over two floors and provide significantly improved modern banking facilities including a full re-decoration, spacious customer-friendly layout, a counter service and state-of-the-art technology. Accessibility will also be a key consideration for colleagues and customers who use a wheelchair, with wide automatic doors, ramps and a lift.
In addition, the first floor of the branch will become a new dedicated Premier Banking Centre with private interview and meeting facilities.
In order to facilitate the major refurbishment, the branch will temporarily close as from 14 March for a period of approximately seven months.
To minimise disruption during this period, and following consultation with the Parish and local charities, HSBC will set up a fully-accessible pop-up service at Communicare as from 17 March, which will be open weekdays between 10am and 4pm and provide customers with a range of general banking services.
In addition, the bank will be extending its opening hours at its branch on King Street, to further support customers during the refurbishment.
Commenting on the renovation programme, Alvaro Teixeira (pictured), Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “In order to ensure our customers continue to receive the best banking experience, we’re making a significant investment in the refurbishment of our St Brelade branch, with an impressive design vision, expanding over two floors and introducing new modern facilities to complement our friendly counter service.
“Of course, this programme will take some time and we thank our customers for their patience whilst we undertake the necessary work. We’re pleased that we are able to offer a number of measures to ensure customers receive a seamless service, through our community pop-up service in Communicare and by extending the opening hours at our flagship King Street branch.”
