Work is due to start in early November on the creation of a new restaurant at the Elizabeth Terminal, St Helier Harbour.

The 180-seater restaurant will be called ‘The Shipyard’and will be operated by established caterers, Casual Dining Group (CDG), which already runs the Bella Italia and Café Rouge brands in the UK as well as the catering facility at Jersey Airport. The ‘Shipyard’, which will cater for both local clientele as well as ferry passengers, promises an all-day high quality dining experience, including both ‘Grab & Go’ options as well as an a-la-Carte offering. With the creation of a large indoor play area and dedicated children’s menus the restaurant will appeal to families and a dedicated stage will allow the venue to offer evening entertainment and live music. The restaurant is also looking to attract the corporate market and cater for large private events.

Local contractors are being appointed to carry out the enabling works, including the internal construction, before final fit-out of the facility can commence. The work is estimated to be completed by spring 2019, in time for the main summer season.

Group CEO for Ports of Jersey, Doug Bannister, says: “I am delighted that work is due to commence soon on this exciting project. We having been working closely with CDG in recent months and now have a committed design and contract with agreed commercial terms in place, which we didn’t have previously. I am therefore confident that the offering to passengers, visitors and residents alike will be refreshing and of great appeal.”

In response, Mark Nelson, Managing Director of Concessions and Franchising for CDG says: “Following the successful launch of several new ventures at Jersey Airport in 2017, we are very excited to be working together again with Ports of Jersey to open ‘The Shipyard’. It will offer something for everyone, delivering classic British pub grub with a contemporary twist.”
