Risk Analyst

The successful candidate will be supporting the Risk Manager in providing subject matter expertise, support, challenge, advice and guidance in the management of Prudential Risks across Skipton. They will also provide analytical validation that Skipton is operating within its Risk Policies, frameworks and risk appetites.
Key accountabilities
- Provide analytical support in the development of the strategy for risk and supporting plans
- Ensure an understanding and adherence to industry and regulatory standards and credit risk policy, operational risk policy, other risk policies, frameworks, processes and procedures
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders/colleagues to monitor delivery of plans (including with SBS Group)
- Maintain a deep understanding of current and future business needs, and of emerging risks and issues relating to area of credit, operational and other risk areas
- Provide analytical confirmation that Skipton operates within Lending Policy and Risk appetite
- Provide analytical confirmation that Skipton operates within Operational Risk Policy, Framework and Risk appetite
- Provide analytic confirmation that Skipton operates within other Risk Policy and risk appetites
- Support the production of analysis and papers for the Credit Sub Committee, Executive Committee, Board and Retail Credit Committee (Skipton Group)
- Work with Finance Department in the preparation of the annual ICAAP and Reverse Stress Testing
- Ensure the provision of accurate and timely analysis that aligns with both organisational and customer/stakeholder requirements
- Ensure that developing risk trends relating to own area of responsibility and/or the wider business are identified and communicated to key decision makers
- Support the production of regular Board Credit Reports outlining mortgage/arrears performance and relevant credit/market issues whilst also drawing attention to matters which represent significant risk to Skipton’s financial well-being
- Adhere to CPD (Continued Professional Development) requirements in accordance with qualification level and in-house procedures
- Adhere to the Skipton International core values and expected behaviours
- Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by management

- A proven track record of achieving results, including working towards the attainment of a relevant professional qualification
- Ability to engage and work in partnership with stakeholders across the business

- Effective analytical and numeric skills
- Ability to analyse and interpret wide ranging business information, summarise, identify recommendations, and produce management reports
- Ability to build MI including dashboards
- Competent Excel and MS-Office user
- Experience of undertaking analytical tasks
