Jersey Community Foundation has distributed £1,045,000 this December to support Jersey’s charitable, non-profit and voluntary organisations.

These funds come from a range of sources administered by the Jersey Community Foundation (JCF), including the WO Street Fund, Greville Bathe Fund, Ann Alice Rayner Fund, Jersey Community Fund, Dormant Bank Accounts and the Supporting the Supporters Fund.

Some of the funded projects include:

  • Community Savings – £90,000: Community Savings provides essential financial tools, including basic accounts, budgeting support, emergency funding, and financial education, helping to tackle poverty pragmatically and empowering individuals to manage their finances. This grant will fund the salaries of the Office Administration Manager and Executive Assistant/Loans Administrator.
  • Grow Jersey (pictured) – £51,246 – Grow Jersey is a community initiative, addressing issues such as nutritional poverty, loneliness, biodiversity loss, and mental health through nature-based solutions and partnerships. This grant will fund the salary of a Head of Operations to drive its mission of improving health and community inclusion through nature.
  • Jersey Action Against Rape (JAAR) – £40,000 – JAAR is an independent and confidential service helping people to recover from the trauma of sexual violence. This grant will provide a therapy programme for 20 clients who have experienced significant trauma.
  • Kairos Arts – £28,944 – Jersey’s only therapeutic arts organisation has been awarded funding to run workshops for individuals affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence. This grant will fund workshops that use creative arts as a therapeutic tool to help participants process their emotions and restore self-worth.

The Supporting the Supporters Fund has awarded approximately £60,000 to 16 organisations. Established in September in collaboration with the Sedel-Collings
Foundation, this fund provides grants of up to £5,000 to community-facing organisations.

It aims to safeguard the wellbeing of staff, volunteers and trustees by recognising the importance of supporting those who provide support to others in Jersey’s charitable, non-profit and voluntary sectors.

Anna Terry, CEO of Jersey Community Foundation, said: “Distributing over £1 million this December highlights the critical role of JCF in supporting Jersey’s third sector. These grants address key community challenges and enable organisations to deliver essential services effectively. We’re grateful to our donors and the Government of Jersey for enabling this vital funding and to the applicants for their continued work in improving lives across various areas in Jersey.”
