For over a century, Le Platon Residential Care Home has been a steadfast presence in the island, offering compassionate care and dignity to Guernsey’s elderly.
Established in 1914 by Edith Renouf MBE, who invested her own wealth to create a sanctuary ‘for the incurably sick,’ the home is launching a community-wide fundraising campaign to ensure that Le Platon’s mission continues.
As Guernsey’s oldest residential home, Le Platon has always opened its doors to elderly individuals from all walks of life, regardless of faith. With core principles of respect, independence, and dignity that have endured through generations, Le Platon now faces growing needs tied to Guernsey’s ageing population and increased demand for specialised dementia care. In response, Le Platon asks the Guernsey community to come together to sustain its future and help it continue to deliver the high level of care and compassion it is known for.
“At Le Platon, we’ve always listened closely to the needs of our community, and each step in our development has been guided by our commitment to serve Guernsey’s elderly with dignity and respect,” said Hubertus Lau, Chairman of Le Platon Residential Care Home.
“Now, we’re asking our community to join us in this mission. With your support, we can continue to provide and enhance the compassionate care our residents deserve, ensuring that Le Platon remains a place of comfort and belonging for generations to come.”
