Sark’s dairy farmers, Jason and Katherine Salisbury, have given notice of their intention to return to their Suffolk farm next summer.
The Salisburys were chosen to start-up the Sark Community Dairy following a national campaign to find a dairy farmer with the relevant experience and knowledge. They have achieved that goal and now wish to hand over the Dairy as a going concern to a new generation and return to the UK.
They have created a top-quality herd and product lines of milk, award winning cheeses and butter. Along the way they have fostered excellent relationships with the regulatory authorities in Guernsey.
Jason and Katherine Salisbury, Dairy Farmers, told Channel Eye: “We are proud to have been the first dairy farmers for the Sark Community Dairy, to establish our top-quality herd and create products of milk, double award-winning cheeses, cream and butter. We hope that the newly chosen tenants will take the dairy to the next level with the support of the islanders.
“We would very much like to pass on our knowledge and help whenever we can. We look forward to coming back to Sark in the future to visit friends we have made and see how the dairy has grown.”

The Dairy is now a turnkey business opportunity for the right person. The Trustees are initially looking for the next tenants from within the two Bailiwicks and will expand the search within weeks to the UK.
