Georgie Dodd has been appointed to manage and implement the next stages of growth and development for the organisation that represents the hospitality industry.
Georgie (pictured), who has a professional background in collaborative working and marketing, will drive the Association’s events and partnership programmes as the Jersey Hospitality Association’s first Engagement and Development Manager.
The new role was created to implement the plans set by the Jersey Hospitality Association’s Management Committee which is made up of senior leaders from the industry. Georgie, who will be working with Co-CEOs Ana and Marcus Calvani, will be building up the Association’s membership, introducing membership benefits and engaging with the hospitality industry’s partners in other sectors.
Malcolm Lewis, Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA) Chair, said: “We are delighted that Georgie has joined our small team, bringing enormous energy into her new role. We need to focus on building partnerships across the island, spreading the word about the industry and the work the JHA does on behalf of everyone to bring Jersey’s visitor economy the success it deserves. Georgie’s boundless enthusiasm, networks and knowledge of Jersey will be a huge asset as we look to build relationships across all business sectors and communities. The JHA is a united voice for positive change, championing people, businesses and the future of the hospitality industry and Georgie’s task will be to bring people together, whether it’s our members, partners or islanders through events and activities, reaching out to those that can help us make a difference. Our job is to make people fall in love with hospitality again. People are beginning to realise that without us, Jersey would not be the island we know, and Georgie will be right at the heart of showing everyone what a great offering we have here.”
The JHA has set itself an ambitious plan to strengthen the links between the businesses that provide the venues, accommodation and experiences through engagement, and a series of festivals and celebrations are being planned next year.
Georgie added: “I can’t wait to get stuck in and meet members of the industry and work alongside Ana and Marcus as I help the JHA implement its fantastic plans. I come from a hospitality background and understand the pressures that members are working under. As the only trade body solely concerned with hospitality, we need to ensure that our members are as enthusiastic as we are about the future of the visitor economy, willing to overcome challenges and to ensure that the industry has a long and bright future that all islanders can enjoy.”
