3,000 Condor passengers hit by French industrial action

Today’s (Saturday) Condor Ferries services between St Malo and the Channel Islands have been cancelled because of industrial action in the French port.

Workers walked out yesterday, hitting the Friday Rapide sailing which was berthed in Jersey when the action was announced. Passengers from Guernsey hoping to get to St Malo were instead transported back home.

Condor Ferries CEO Paul Luxon said: “We are incredibly disappointed that through the actions of others our services are being cancelled so we have called in additional resources in our customer services department to ensure we speak to everyone and provide assistance with changing their travel plans.”

The ferry firm is also speaking to airlines based at Dinard Airport to see whether it can charter a plane to return stranded passengers to the islands.

Condor is contacting the 2,000 to 3,000 affected passengers directly, and there are updates on their website.
