Despite warnings about stormy weather approaching, the sun shone once again for the annual Jersey International Family Law Conference.
LinkedIn was buzzing with photographs of the glorious St Brelade’s Bay, sea swimming and football on the beach.
Over 240 delegates from around the world attended the Jersey Family International Conference at the L’Horizon on the 4th of October. Sir Jonathan Cohen was the key note speaker and the theme being When Divisions Collide.
This year for the first time the family law firm added a beach football match to the weekend’s events. This was a huge success with founding partner Advocate Nick Le Quesne scoring two of the six goals, along with James Evans and Paul Harris. Thanks to Jason Roukin, a clerk from 4KBW chambers in London, for his keen goalkeeping skills. Lizzie Keogh, office manager and finalist for the Family Law Family Champion Awards also arranged a surprise for the delegates this year.
As darkness fell they were treated to the Jersey Showman’s Tamed Inferno fire show on the beach. Lizzie said: “It was great to be able to welcome mostly city lawyers to the island and not only look at the view from the hotel but really appreciate the venue in a new way.”
The local law firm also hosted a Women in Family Law Event. This year the speaker was local coach from People Like Me, Dr Julie Luscombe who focused on the burnout professionals can experience.
Advocate Corbett said: “We endeavour to keep our family and child conferences as affordable as possible. While the costs of running an event have gone up we are lucky to be able to offer such a superb event at a reasonable cost thanks to our loyal and lovely sponsors, through Lizzie’s hard work, and the generosity of our speakers giving their time for free.
“Jersey once again proved a fantastic venue for an international conference. We attend various conferences both here and around the world and it really makes us proud that this conference is always so well received.”
