Canaccord Wealth have held a celebration with representatives from a number of local charities to mark 20 years of supporting worthy causes in Guernsey.
The Canaccord Genuity Wealth Charitable Trust was launched in 2004 and is managed by current and former staff. It supports locally registered charities across Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man, and last week’s event (held on 4 October) is one of many celebrations taking place across the Crown Dependencies this year.
The Charitable Trust has also planted a family apple tree in Cambridge Park. The tree, which produces three different varieties of apples, is a symbol of the longevity of the Charitable Trust and Canaccord’s long-term commitment to charitable causes in the Crown Dependencies.
The Charitable Trust has made over 350 donations to 200 different charities over the past two decades, amounting to more than £462,000. Until this point, donations have come via staff contributions, and odd lot shares, donated by clients.
For the first time, Canaccord colleagues in Guernsey have also chosen to specifically partner with the Bailiwick Victim Support and Witness Service and will hold a series of fundraising events over two years. The money raised will also be pound-for-pound matched by Canaccord.
Jenny Murphy from the service said: “It was fantastic to attend this event to mark 20 incredible years for the Charitable Trust. Our partnership with Canaccord has only just begun, but support like this is a lifeline for charities like us.”
Head of Wealth Management in Guernsey, Chris Colclough, said: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate 20 years of the Charitable Trust. Giving back to our local
communities is so important, and we are delighted that representatives from some of the charities we have supported were able to join us to mark the occasion.”
Roisin Sullivan, Governance Manager at Canaccord Wealth and charity trustee, said: “We know that many smaller charities have really benefited from our support, so reaching this milestone is something to celebrate.
“The Trust is a huge force for good, and we are proud to mark its significant achievements, reflecting both past successes and our future aspirations.”
