Business Risk and Control Manager

Skipton International has an exciting new opportunity as a Business Risk and Control Manager. The Business Risk and Control Manager is a critical role in ensuring that Skipton International operates an effective internal control framework and manages risks in line with the organisations risk appetite.

This is a senior role within the Chief Operating Office and will influence across the business to drive a positive risk culture, and drive initiatives to ensure that risk is viewed as an enabler of achievement of the organisation’s strategic priorities.

Key accountabilities

Risk Management Framework
  • Successfully implement the Risk Management Framework across all areas of the SIL operation, including the identification, assessment, mitigation and ongoing monitoring of both non financial and financial risks.
  • Provide effective oversight and challenge of Risk and Control owners, ensuring that risks are managed within appetite and where reporting outside of appetite, effective pathways are in place to remediate.
  • ​Ensure that issue and action owners are held to account and close items in line with agreed target dates
  • ​Manage the closure of all second and third line actions resulting from review activity
  • ​Be an advocate for the framework and provide support across the first line to develop risk management capabilities.
  • ​Act as Risk Owner (Delegate) for risks owned by the Chief Operating Officer
Governance
  • Own the pack and reporting for the Business Risk and Control Committee (monthly)
  • ​Prepare papers for the Customer Selection and Exit Management Committee (CSEM)
  • ​In conjunction with the MLRO ensure that cases submitted to the CSEM committee are of the required quality and detail
  • ​Actively participate in other governance as required
  • ​Oversee the annual review of Governance effectiveness
Third Party Risk Management
  • Oversee the effective operation of the Third Party Risk Management Framework, ensuring that all relationships are managed in line with framework expectations.
  • ​Challenge third party relationship managers on the performance of relationships and remediate any highlighted concerns.
General
  • Adhere to CPD (Continued Professional Development) requirements in accordance with qualification level and in-house procedures.
  • Adhere to the Skipton International core values and expected behaviours.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by management.

Essential requirements

  • Educated to degree level
  • Knowledge of: Risk Management, Risk Management Frameworks, Regulatory reporting
  • Experience in: Line Management, Relevant financial services risk management
