Schedulers at Aurigny have been pouring over months of past flight data in an effort to improve the on-time performance of its flights during the coming winter months.
Having carefully assessed the times for the different aspects of thousands of flights, the team has used the data to adjust the winter schedule with the aim to minimise delays and improve punctuality.
One of the crucial sets of information that has been analysed is known as ‘block time’, which is the total amount of time from the moment an aircraft leaves the departure gate, to the time it arrives at the destination gate. Teams have also looked at how long it takes to taxi, to and from the gate at each airport, as well as the turnaround time for each aircraft. This is the exact amount of time the aircraft spends sitting on stand at the gate.
Head of Ground Operations, Dave Cox said: “We are always striving to improve the service we offer. Using data from previous flights helps us build a more accurate picture of how long every flight should take, from gate to gate. By making these adjustments to our flight times for the winter schedule, we will be able to get more people to their destination on time”.
