The winners of the Bookmark Design Competition have been selected as part of the Jersey Festival of Words.
The competition, open to Jersey schoolchildren from Year 3 to Year 8, showcased an impressive display of creativity and enthusiasm for books, with over 200 entries submitted by students across the island.
The winning designs, which captured the spirit of the Festival, were chosen by a panel of judges consisting of Highvern employees. The winners are:
- Year 3 & 4: Ivy Kemish
- Year 5 & 6: Louis De Gouveia
- Year 7 & 8: Ben Robinson
Each winner will receive complimentary tickets to a Festival event of their choice and a Highvern literary and arts goodie bag, valued at £200. This bag is packed with vibrant paints, stationery, book vouchers, chic desk accessories, and so much more. In addition, the winning designs will be transformed into sustainable bookmarks, which will be distributed at various Festival venues.
Martin Hall, Chief Executive of Highvern, said: “Our Jersey team enjoyed being involved in the judging process, and there was a lot of excitement as we received so many creative entries. Although it was a difficult task to pick just a few winners, we’re proud to support the Festival and play a role in nurturing creativity and a love for literature within the community.”
Highvern and the Festival organisers extend their gratitude to all the parents, schools, and students who took part in the competition, as well as to the employees who contributed their time to the judging process. As part of the Festival, all bookmark entries will be featured in a special showcase at Café Jac, giving the public an opportunity to admire the talent of Jersey’s young artists.
