Guernsey Waste is looking to award a new contract for the recycling of glass bottles and jars collected from the kerbside, the Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) and commercial businesses.
The current contract is due to expire at the end of the year and Guernsey Waste is looking to re-engage the market to get the best commercial rate for the material.
Any interested parties have until 27th September 2024 to submit a bid in response to the tender. It is anticipated that the contract will be awarded in early Q4 2024 with the new contract starting in January 2025.
In 2023, 2,750 tonnes of glass was exported from Guernsey to the UK for recycling.
