More than £21,000 has been raised to support the work of Autism Jersey through an annual Golf Day fundraiser organised by the charity, sponsored for the second consecutive year by Hawksford.
Held on 23rd August, the Golf Day is Autism Jersey’s flagship fundraiser each year with a broad cross-section of local individuals and organisations taking part once again this year. 24 teams participated in this year’s sold-out event.
Of particular note this year was that Jersey artist Emilie Knight, who turned to art to help demonstrate her feelings after receiving a late autism diagnosis, also donated a piece of her work for the auction to help support the fundraising efforts. Emilie’s kind donation follows a successful exhibition at the JARO Gallery earlier this year.
The winning teams for the Autism Jersey Golf Day 2024 were:
- 1st Winning team: Hawksford Hitters
- 2nd: What’s a Fairway
- 3rd: Rathbones
Lesley Harrison, Head of Charitable Services at Autism Jersey, said: “Once again, our annual Golf Day proved to be a huge success. As our flagship event, it is vitally important in terms of raising both understanding and much needed funds for Autism Jersey, so that as a charity we can continue to provide much needed services for autistic individuals and their families in the island.
“With that in mind, I’m hugely grateful for all those who took part in the event and made it such an enjoyable day, as well as those who helped organise and support the day – including Emilie and her very kind donation towards our fundraising, and Hawksford for their ongoing support. My congratulations also go to this year’s winners”
Richard Summerfield, Chief People Officer at Hawksford, added: “This is the second year we have sponsored Autism Jersey’s annual Golf Day and I’m really pleased to be continuing our partnership with such a vital local charity, helping to raise a significant sum of money. Autism Jersey does an incredible job of promoting awareness of autism and, in a challenging environment for charities, it’s important that we do our bit, through community events like this, to help raise funds so they can continue to provide the personalised services individuals and their families need.”
