Thrive Jersey and Switch Digital launch summer campaign to support islanders’ mental health

Thrive Jersey and Switch Digital have announced a campaign aimed at supporting islanders, particularly young men, who may struggle with their mental health this summer.

This summer is packed full of sports with the UEFA Euro 2024, Olympics, Paralympics and many other sporting events taking place. Whilst this is an exciting time for those who follow sports; according to research, young men ages 15-34 are at the highest risk of suicide around the time of large sporting events.

The campaign aims to raise awareness about mental health in young men at a time when their risk of suicide is greater and provide them with the resources to reach out for help if needed. Thrive will be raising awareness of this increasing risk and providing information relating to charities and community groups that Islanders can contact if they need help or information. Thrive will be supplying beer mats to pubs around the Island containing the relevant information.

A spokesperson from Thrive commented: “As an Island we are lucky to have a great community around us and organisations that offer support when needed such as Mind Jersey, Samaritans, Jersey Recovery College and The Man Club to name a few.

“This is an important time of year for raising awareness about the resources available for anyone to access when they need extra support and the organisations who can help.”

The initiative was developed by Switch and their Chief Strategy Officer Lynne Capie commented: “This campaign was designed to get the relevant information to our target audience at a time where research has shown there will be increasing demand. We love working with Thrive and recognise the importance of the work they do in supporting Jersey’s wellbeing.”
