Connect Me scheme expands with new website launch
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

The Government of Jersey’s micro-grant initiative, Connect Me: Connecting Our Communities, is evolving with the introduction of a new website.

The new website, created in partnership with Access Elemental is being piloted now. This will enable Islanders to engage with projects aimed at enhancing their health and mental wellbeing. This launch follows the successful support of more than 150 projects by the scheme, engaging more than 25,000 participants.

Islanders can browse the website  which features a variety of activities including cultural events, arts, and physical and mental wellbeing programmes as well as read the blogs and watch videos on some of the projects supported so far.

Minister for Social Security, Deputy Lyndsay Feltham (pictured), said: “Building on the success of Connect Me, I am delighted to see this initiative expand further. In addition to the new website, we have already trained 29 Community Connectors who are employed through local charities as well as other third sector organisations and Parishes. These individuals are engaging with members of the community to understand their needs and work with them to develop tailored projects. Their role is crucial in linking Islanders to personalised support for their mental and physical wellbeing.

“The new website will serve as an additional vital resource, allowing Islanders to discover and participate in activities that interest them. This initiative aims to combat isolation and create connections among like-minded individuals. The full rollout of the platform is scheduled for September, at which point GPs and other Health Care Professionals will be able to refer patients to the platform. These patients will then be assigned to trained individuals called ‘Link Workers’, who will make sure they are accessing the right support to meet their personal needs.”

Jennifer Neff, Co-Founder and Head of Strategy, Access Elemental said: “We are excited about this roll out across Jersey. We are working in partnership with stakeholders across the Island to bridge the gap between Islanders, communities, and the health and social care sector. Jersey boasts an array of quality initiatives, from outdoor activities to debt advice, housing support, and mental health services.

“I am looking forward to seeing how we will continue to enhance the wellbeing of Islanders, foster collaboration, and create positive change. Together, we can build a healthier, more connected Jersey.”
