Can your colleagues master a cooking challenge set by the Head Chef of L’Horizon?
L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa’s Executive Head Chef is on the hunt for teams of four or five to cook off against each other this summer.
Andrew Soddy, of the AA Four Red Star beachside hotel in St Brelade is holding some sizzling BBQ masterclasses this summer, which he says are the perfect recipe for corporate events.
After getting the BBQ fired up on the Hotel’s lower terrace and demonstrating how to perfect some classic grilled dishes, the teams will have a five minute Q&A with Andrew to digest as much information as possible before they have to race off Masterchef style to a specially created ‘larder’ to collect all the ingredients they need to make them.
It’s then the teams’ turn to delegate jobs and transform their ingredients into quality plates of food with each team’s efforts judged on presentation and flavour.
The teams will then get together to tuck into the fruits of their labour.
Commenting on the masterclasses, Andrew said: “Our masterclasses are great for interactive and friendly competition and perfect for team building. Hopefully each team will pick up some new skills along the way and try using ingredients they might not have cooked with before and of course there will be a prize for the winner.”
Andrew also offers a seafood platter masterclass where teams ‘Catch a lobster’ before making one of his signature lobster dishes. Meanwhile his Local Gems masterclass introduces budding chefs to Jersey Bean Crock (Les pais au fou), the island’s traditional dish, served with cabbage bread.
