The Bailiff’s Fund, set up to support Islanders displaced by Storm Ciarán, is now open for applications via the Jersey Community Foundation website.
The Fund will support individuals and families who have been displaced and have suffered hardship as a result of Storm Ciarán and who need short term aid to help them through difficulty. The closing date for applications is 7 December. Applications should be made online and will be reviewed by a panel mid-December. Further information regarding criteria and eligibility can be found at the Jersey Community Foundation (JCF) website.
The Bailiff, Sir Timothy Le Cocq, said: “Storm Ciarán was even more harmful in its impact on our community than predicted. In its wake, it became quickly apparent that that a number of islanders including families had suffered very significant loss with damaged homes and loss of personal possessions.
“The Bailiff’s Appeal was established to help those affected have access to prompt financial aid to help them stabilise and recover quickly.
“I am pleased to say that the appeal was met with an overwhelming response with donations from across the island. The funds received by the Jersey Community Foundation are going to those who need it most, providing them with one less worry at this difficult time.
“I am grateful to all involved, whether you donated or are helping administer the funds through various parish initiatives. Thank you.”
Anna Terry, CEO of Jersey Community Foundation said: “We are proud to support the community through the administration of The Bailiff’s Fund for Storm Ciarán. Our existing infrastructure and experience managing community fundraising initiatives allows us to move quickly to collect and administer financial aid. We hope that these funds will offer some support to those most affected by the storm.”
