Hawksford has strengthened its executive management team with the appointment of Eric Dolan as Head of Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC). Based in Jersey, Eric has overall responsibility for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
A specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including with the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), Eric will evolve and manage the company’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) strategy.
Eric and his team of 16 risk and compliance specialists ensure that Hawksford’s pragmatic and effective policies and procedures benefit Hawksford’s clients, staff and its communication with regulatory authorities.
“Hawksford is in a very interesting stage of its growth strategy, so it is a really exciting time to join the company. My recent experience as Risk Director for another business during a rapid growth period will be valuable as Hawksford expands globally.
“I am looking forward to bringing my experience of ERM to Hawksford; effective ERM provides a quality assurance mark for clients that, as a company, we adopt a rigorous approach to risk management. My approach is to encourage pragmatic, risk-based decisions across the organisation. No two clients are the same and it is important to apply clear thinking on an individual basis to ensure that Hawksford, on behalf of its clients, stays on the right side of regulations and its own risk appetite, whilst supporting business growth. Hawksford has a solid compliance foundation and I am looking forward to working with the team,” said Eric.
Michel van Leeuwen, CEO of Hawksford, said: “Eric’s impressive balance of industry and regulatory experience will be a major advantage for Hawksford in ensuring our risk and compliance processes remain robust. His analytical approach and understanding of risk and compliance will provide strong guidance across the business to ensure we make pragmatic, considered and confident decisions every time.”
Eric joins Hawksford from Sanne Group plc, where he held the post of risk director for two years. Prior to this he held numerous senior positions at the JFSC where he worked for nine years, five of which as a deputy director in Supervisory Operations and four years as a banking examiner assessing AML/CFT and prudential risks. Eric started his career at Ernst & Young, in both Jersey and London, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant specialising in systems and controls auditing.
A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Eric holds the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment’s Diploma in Investment Compliance alongside the Information Systems Audit and Control Association’s Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification.
