Sure is the Official Telecommunications Partner for Manx Grand Prix’s centenary year.
The technology provider has a long history powering the motorsport races with its cutting-edge technology.
Officials, teams, spectators, and fans will benefit from the robust, free WiFi provided by Sure throughout the Grandstand and Paddock area, helping fans keep up to date with event news, share photos and videos and check lap times as they’re released. Additionally, Sure’s island wide ultrafast 4G network will keep those elsewhere on the island or watching around the course connected to the action.
The Official Telecommunications Partner will also be supporting the technology for the vital safety measures around the course to protect the riders as its connectivity powers the systems in the Grandstand building for Race Control as well as scoreboard timing screens and the Media Centre.
Sure’s network and advanced solutions will also be supporting the digital flags system around the course and the GPS devices on competing machines as additional safety measures to protect the riders. The GPS is powered by Sure 4G SIMs, delivering real-time data from any point around the course, while the 4G powered digital flag warning system provides a failsafe system for Race Control to be able to call a halt to the races at the push of a button.
As well as being the Official Technology Partner, Sure is sponsoring the Sure Lightweight Manx Grand Prix, a three-lap race taking place on Friday 25 August.
Mike Phillips, Sure Isle of Man Chief Executive, will be starting the race: “Sure has a long history of supporting Isle of Man motorsport. It’s fantastic to be powering the technology behind the Manx Grand Prix and directly sponsoring the Lightweight Manx Grand Prix Race.
“On-island spectators will be able to enjoy our ultrafast network to get great coverage from around the course, wherever they are watching the races. Good luck to all the riders competing in these thrilling races.”
The Isle of Man’s Manx Grand Prix tracks its history back to 1923 when it was established as a chance for amateur riders to experience the thrill of the island’s challenging and world-famous Mountain Course. This year marks a significant milestone for the event, being its 100th year, connecting motorsports fans from around the world through a shared passion.
Sophie Lowney, Motorsport Development Manager for the Department of Enterprise, said: “The 2023 Manx Grand Prix is ready to deliver another exceptional event that gets to the heart of what makes the Isle of Man such a special place to live and visit. It’s fantastic to have Sure on board with the Manx Grand Prix as the Official Telecommunications Partner; fast and secure connectivity for the races is paramount for the safety of our riders, as well as for the enjoyment of the spectators.”
The 2023 MGP runs from 20-28 August.
