SandpiperCI has announced a significant charity partnership with Jersey Hospice Care.
Staff and leadership teams at Jersey’s largest retailer wanted to find and partner with a local charity that had the greatest impact on island life and Hospice came through as a clear winner.
The partnership with Jersey Hospice Care has already commenced and several thousand pounds has already been raised by Sandpiper teams taking part in the Jersey Hospice Moonlight Walk, a head office colleagues bake sale, a dress in yellow day and significant amounts of clothing given to both Hospice charity shops from Matalan M&S and Crew Clothing.
Enthused by the charity partnership, hundreds of Sandpiper’s staff are planning their own fundraising events, including: a team entering the Dragon Boat races in September, a fund-raising fashion show using colleagues as models, charity cycle to work days and bike-a-thon, car boot sales, free raffles, bingo and a whole lot more.
Sandpiper staff will also regularly team up with Jersey Hospice Care volunteers to do instore and outside store awareness days to raise awareness of all matters around end of life and how Jersey Hospice can help.
Sandpiper’s Managing Director of Retail, Mike Rutter (pictured) said: “Jersey Hospice Care touches the lives of nearly all islanders. The vital role Hospice’s dedicated staff and volunteers play in our community is well known by those who have experienced, – either directly, or indirectly – the outstanding care provided by this much-loved, local charity.
“My colleagues were unanimous in choosing Jersey Hospice Care as our main fund-raising partner over the coming weeks and months because we all recognise the huge importance of Hospice’s work in our community and want to have the opportunity to help and put something back”.
Jersey Hospice Care’s Chief Executive, Mike Palfreman, said: “We are absolutely delighted and proud to have been chosen by Sandpiper’s staff and leadership team. The Sandpiper group includes many of the biggest names on the high street and we are excited at the prospect of working together to raise both awareness of our services and funds that are essential to Hospice’s future”.
Sandpiper staff are looking forward to many more fundraising events over the coming weeks and months and are also appealing to the public to help and support by joining in with sponsorship and donating via Jersey Hospice Care collecting tins now in place at more than 50 Island stores including: Marks & Spencer, Morrisons Daily, Iceland, Costa Coffee, Matalan, Crew Clothing, Card Factory, Hotel Chocolat, iQ Apple Premium Reseller, Wine Warehouse, Checkers Xpress, and Burger King.
