Islanders are invited to give their views on the principles, approach and timescale for plans to introduce a telecoms security and resilience framework for Jersey.
The consultation aims to obtain feedback on a proposed framework designed to ensure that Jersey’s digital connectivity remains secure and robust.
The Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture, Deputy Kirsten Morel (pictured), said: “Digital connectivity sits at the heart of our modern society, and it underpins our private and working lives. I have no doubt that technology will continue to transform almost every aspect of our lives, and I have put digitalisation at the heart of Jersey’s economic strategy.
“But the opportunities for transformation come with ever more complex risks and threats. In a rapidly changing world, we must be able to respond quickly to the threat of cyber-attacks, and the purpose of this consultation is to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to review our outline plan, and give their views.”
The proposal is for Jersey’s security network to be based on the UK’s legislation, and for the Island to remain closely aligned to the UK’s approach to telecoms security. The framework would be lodged in time for the States Assembly to debate early in 2024, and for the framework to be established by the end of next year.
