Brittany ports opened up to Guernsey mariners

Guernsey boat owners will have easier access to Brittany ports this summer.

French Authorities have confirmed five new temporary entry ports – Lézardrieux, Saint Cast, Saint Quay Portrieux, Trébeurden and Tréguier – for private vessels visiting the region between 1st June and 30th September.

This means that private vessels can clear Customs and Immigration at these designated ports and will not need to call at a permanent PPF port, such as St Malo or Roscoff.

Assistant Harbour Master James Way said this will increase travel options and reduce hassle for Guernsey mariners planning a French excursion this summer.

He explained: “This is great news for Guernsey boat owners visiting Brittany between 1st June and 30th September as they can proceed directly from Guernsey to any of these five ports before exploring the rest of the Brittany coast.

“A ‘Declaration of Arrival’ form must be completed at least 24 hours prior to arrival and emailed to the relevant marina office who will forward it to the authorities in St-Brieuc for processing. Departure from France can be from any one of these five ports but a ‘Declaration of Departure’ form must be submitted in the same manner.”

A declaration form can be downloaded here and port/marina specific forms can be downloaded here.
