Martín Casas, a property lawyer with extensive experience across a number of jurisdictions, including Argentina, Ireland and the UK, has joined Ogier in Guernsey as senior associate amid continued growth in the firm’s Channel Islands Local Legal Services team.
Martín joined Ogier from the real estate team of an international law firm based in the UK, where he advised developers and institutional investors on the purchase, development, sale and letting of real estate.
Martín has also acted for both landlords and tenants on the letting of office, retail, industrial and logistic space and a ferry and ports operator on the management and letting of its units.
At Ogier Martín will advise on all aspects of property transactions and tenancy agreements across the residential and commercial sectors.
Martín said: “I’m very pleased to have joined Ogier and look forward to working alongside clients in the Guernsey market as I build on my real estate experience in the UK. Ogier is at the cutting edge of innovation in the offshore market – it’s a great time to be joining the firm.”
Property partner and advocate Martyn Baudains said: “We’re delighted to welcome Martín to the team. It’s rare for a property lawyer to make the move from the UK to offshore, so Martín brings with him a fresh perspective that will benefit clients and further complement the skills of our leading Local Legal Services team.”
Ogier is the 2018 winner of Legal Week’s International Law Firm Innovation Award and Chambers Europe’s Offshore Law Firm of the Year Award. Ogier is also one of only 31 law firms worldwide to be named in IFLR’s Firms to Watch.
