Corbett Le Quesne is holding their second child law conference today at the Radisson.
Speakers and delegates are travelling from Guernsey and the UK to learn about how to break the cycle in difficult family situations.
The key note speaker is Mr Justice Keehan who was just appointed Senior Family Division Liaison Judge and Elizabeth McGrath KC is chairing the event.
Advocate Corbett commented: “Breaking the cycle is one of the biggest and most important challenges we face when dealing with children and families in often heart breaking situations. The cost of the problem should motivate people to pay for early intervention as prevention is always far better than cure. We have invited a selection of experts to Jersey to discuss ways in which we can make the future better for families in the care system and facing trauma associated with difficult family situations.”
Corbett Le Quesne have also announced details of their inaugural Trusts and the Family Conference on the 30th of June 2023.

We will be focusing on the positive relationship between trusts and family law. The typical issue you think of when family law and trusts collide is how spouses can get assets from a trust in a divorce. Trustees can be quite anxious about divorce and pre and post nuptial agreements are often advised. This is where we come in but we have also found that trusts can be used in a positive way to protect children and both spouses particularly where there are issues of control and lack of trust.”
