PwC Channel Islands has announced that it will offer Digital Degree Apprenticeships in conjunction with the University of Exeter, with the first cohort of students beginning their apprenticeships late summer.

The degree is aimed at aspiring technology solutions enthusiasts who are looking to make a valued impact on the future technology workforce.

Successful applicants to the programme with PwC will work towards a BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions degree over four years alongside holding a professional role within the Advisory team. Approximately 20 percent of students’ time will be allocated to their studies, alongside the practical experience they will gain through their position within the firm.

Full funding is available for the programme, which is primarily delivered through distance learning, with three weeks per year on campus in Exeter. The core foundation syllabus covers a number of topics, including business organisation, information security and network infrastructure. Apprentices will then have the  opportunity to select a specialist pathway for their final two years, enabling them to focus on software engineering, data analysis, IT business analysis, IT consultancy, or cyber security.

Alongside studying for the BSc, as part of the Digital Degree Apprenticeships (DDA) programme PwC will also provide opportunities for successful candidates to undertake a blended learning p programme including professional certifications, industry and market experience, and invaluable soft skills training such as leadership and self-awareness.

The DDA programme was established by the Government of Jersey and the prestigious University of Exeter and is open to candidates in both Jersey and Guernsey through PwC. The scheme is available to school leavers (post A Level) as well as professionals looking to re-train or upskill. The qualification is a full University of Exeter degree aligned to the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Apprenticeship.

Commenting on the introduction of the apprenticeship programme, Territory Senior Partner, Nick Vermeulen (pictured) said: “At PwC, we’re passionate about supporting our people and developing a sustainable skills base on the island. The Digital Degree Apprenticeships will help us to fulfil both of these ambitions, enriching our digital skills talent and providing a valuable opportunity for those who wish to pursue a degree in such a pivotal topic alongside their professional role. We welcome applications from across the Channel Islands for the DDA and look forward to supporting the first cohort of apprentices through their studies in due course.”
