Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management UK is celebrating a decade of providing wealth management and brokerage services in Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man.
Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management UK and Europe (CGWM UK) is celebrating 10 years in the UK and Crown Dependencies. An independent UK wealth management firm, CGWM UK offers private clients, professionals, and charities a complete range of fully integrated wealth management services from discretionary investment management to expert financial planning advice.
Since 2012, several strategic acquisitions have enhanced the national footprint and added specialisms in small caps and fund management. Across the region, there are now 14 offices accommodating over 700 employees.
A lot has changed in those ten years: the UK voted to leave the EU; Donald Trump was elected president of the United States; Australia elected its first female Prime Minister; Apple launched the iPad; Bitcoin arrived; Greece declared bankruptcy; the ‘sharing economy’ began with Uber; the world’s leaders reached agreement on tackling climate change in Paris; we fought a global pandemic; there were five royal births, two royal weddings and the death of Britain’s longest serving monarch.
But during that decade staff at Canaccord Genuity in the Islands have also benefitted from consistency and stability. As part of the celebrations, staff who have worked for the company for the last ten years (and beyond) were asked what working for the business has meant to them. Six colleagues in Guernsey and Jersey with more than 110 years’ service between them took part in the research and similar responses from each build an enviable picture of a career with Canaccord Genuity: ‘support’, ‘opportunity’, ‘openness’, ‘family’, ‘honesty’ and ‘trust’ are words that ring out repeatedly in their feedback.
- Anna Trickey, Group Head of Compliance, who has worked for Canaccord Genuity in Guernsey for nearly 25 years said: “It is a great place to work, and I have made many friends here. I think we genuinely care about our employees. People are listened to and can contribute – and so ultimately feel valued.”
- Ben Bavin, Stockbroking Director in Jersey commented: “Canaccord Genuity supported my progress in my career starting with getting my exams done and then learning to trade and advise. I am now one of the longest standing members of the stockbroking team coaching, mentoring and supporting our younger team members.”
- Andy Finch, Chief Executive Officer International, who has worked at Canaccord Genuity for two decades, summed up the culture and ethos of the business: “I was lucky to join a firm, way back in 2002, that would offer me a succession of opportunities to develop my career. Canaccord understands the importance of investing in our colleagues by giving everyone the opportunity to grow and develop.”
Canaccord Genuity employs 184 staff in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, providing wealth management solutions and brokerage services to individual investors, private clients, charities and intermediaries through a full suite of services tailored to the needs of clients in each of its markets.
The business is also invested in the communities it works in, supporting local charitable and not-for-profit organisations through several event sponsorships and the Canaccord Genuity Charitable Trust, that has donated more than £400,000 to local causes over the last ten years.
