Director of Apprenticeships for The Guernsey Institute, College of Further Education, Chris Torode said: “We were delighted to see apprentices’ achievements being recognised and celebrated at the event. Our construction industry apprenticeships continue to be a popular choice for young people seeking to enter the workforce whilst studying towards a formal qualification. This year we have 125 newly enrolled apprentices, 44% of whom are working within the construction sector. We continue to work closely with employers to review and adapt the apprenticeship curriculum, to reflect developments in the industry and we are grateful to the GBTEA for its on-going support and for hosting another great night.”
Kevin Le Tissier, Vice-president of the GBTEA added: “The evening provided us with an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Guernsey’s best construction trades apprentices. The apprenticeship scheme is vital in providing the future talent that the industry will need and many former apprentices who have won these awards in the past have gone on to run their own businesses. Congratulations to everyone who won an award – a reflection of their hard work and dedication.”
