Affordable access to dental care and more pricing transparency have topped the list of election candidates’ key consumer issues, following a survey by Jersey’s Consumer Council.
Sent to all candidates standing in this week’s election, the survey aimed to gauge the consumer-related views of those wishing to serve the island as States Members.
Islanders can now log on to the Jersey Consumer Council website and see who, in their district, best represents their consumer views and, in some cases, what they will do to address them. http://www.jerseyconsumercouncil.org.je/consumers-political-promise/
Of the 35 candidates who responded, almost all were in agreement that the States should do more to help Islanders have access to affordable primary healthcare, in particular dental and eye care.
Chairman Carl Walker said: “Our survey will hopefully help the electorate see for themselves how certain candidates place consumer issues on their agenda.
“We encourage everyone who is planning to vote this week to have a look at the results of our survey and see how their chosen candidates may represent their views when it comes to the very important matter of consumer issues.”
