Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display 2022

Guernsey’s annual air display has been enjoyed by thousands of people for nearly 60 years, hosting some of Britain’s most historic and treasured military aircraft, including the iconic Red Arrows, one of the world’s premier acrobatic display teams.

The Guernsey Air Display plays a crucial role in:

• Commemorating the lives and legacy of all those RAF aircrew who have served their country with honour and pride over the last 100+ years and ensuring the continued preservation of our historic aircraft which enriches our national heritage.
• ​Celebrating the invaluable work that the RAF Association does for all former and current serving personnel who need support and assistance.
• Inspiring the next generation of pilots, engineers and aerospace professionals.

The Air Display falls within Battle of Britain Week which is the main fundraising event for the Guernsey branch of the RAF Association. In 2020 over £10,000 was raised in the week.​

The line-up is expected to include:

• RAF Red Arrows
• The Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
• The Blades
• RAF Chinook
• Bronco OV-10B
• Team Raven
• Rich Goodwin’s Muscle Biplane
• Navy Wings Seafire
• Navy Wings Wasp

Barry Neal, Flying Display Director, said: “We are delighted to announce the return of several aircraft who are firm favourites including the RAF Chinook, The Blades, the Muscle Biplane and, of course, the Red Arrows. Team Raven are returning with a new look formation of six aircraft and with three new pilots.  We are delighted to welcome new faces with the Navy Wings Seafire and Wasp and the Bronco OV-10B.

“We will endeavour to keep the public updated with any changes to the official timings for the display, however, these are subject to change due to weather and serviceability. Our social media pages and the air display website will be updated accordingly.

“Please also be reminded that any drone activity within the Bailiwick or boats sailing into the display zone will result in flying being suspended and could result in the display being cancelled.”

With the exception of the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the rest of display teams will join the Meet the Pilots event on the afternoon of Wednesday 7th September on the East Apron at the airport.  The event is popular with young and old as an opportunity get up close and personal to the aircraft and meet the pilots and crew who fly them.

Russell Clark from the Guernsey Air Display Foundation said: “We have another fantastic line-up for this year’s Air Display, and are very grateful to all the teams who are taking part.  The Display is a firm favourite in the Bailiwick and we are sure they will all put on a wonderful show for everyone to enjoy.

“The continued support from the Air Display Consortium, our Corporate Friends and individual Friends enables us to stage the event each year and we thank them all for their contribution. Companies who host events on the day of the display are encouraged to donate and members of the public can become Friends right up until the day of the Display. There truly is every opportunity to make a worthy contribution to this much-loved community event.”

The Air Display relies almost entirely on private funding, from Consortium members and Corporate and individual Friends of the Guernsey Air Display. Without this sponsorship and support, this much-loved spectacle, which is free for all islanders to enjoy, cannot take place.

The Air Display takes place between Guernsey and Herm, with amazing views from Guernsey’s east coast.
